Carolina Hurricanes to assign nine players to Charlotte Checkers

Larose added to training camp roster, which now stands at 36 players RALEIGH, NC Sept. 27, 2014 – Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team will reassign nine players from its training camp roster to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League. Francis also announced that the team has added forward Chad LaRose to the training camp roster on a professional tryout. Defensemen Trevor Carrick, Dennis Robertson and Keegan Lowe and goaltender Daniel Altshuller were assigned directly to the Checkers. Jordan Staal to undergo surgery on right leg

Center suffered a fractured fibula during Tuesday’s game in Buffalo RALEIGH, NC Sept. 25, 2014 – Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced center Jordan Staal will undergo surgery on Friday to repair a fractured fibula in his right leg. The procedure will be performed by Dr. Kevin Logel and Dr. Marty Isbell at Raleigh Orthopaedic and recovery time is estimated at three to four months. Staal, 26, was injured during the third period of Carolina’s exhibition game at Buffalo on Tuesday, when he got tangled up with Sabres defenseman Josh Gorges. Admission is free to all regular season home women’s soccer games, and the first 300 students through the gates on Thursday will receive a Clemson soccer t-shirt. RALEIGH, NC Sept. 23, 2014 — The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission’s Home From The Hunt™ safety campaign recommends some guidelines when hunting with archery equipment, including crossbows. “The safety considerations for using a crossbow, longbow or compound bow are similar to other hunting methods,” said Travis Casper, state hunting education coordinator. “Hunting safety is exercising caution, obeying regulations and putting into practice what you’ve learned in hunter education. “As with any method of hunting, always point your crossbow, longbow, compound bow in a safe direction,” he said. “Only release an arrow after positively identifying your target and what’s beyond it. Hurricanes center injured during preseason game in Buffalo RALEIGH, NC Sept. 23, 2014 – Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, tonight announced that center Jordan Staal suffered a broken bone in the lower portion of his right leg during the team’s preseason game against the Buffalo Sabres. TICKETS: Carolina Hurricanes (NHL Hockey) Staal, 26, was injured during the third period when he got tangled up with Sabres defenseman Josh Gorges in the third period of Carolina’s 2-0 exhibition loss.
