CofC Men’s Golf Signs Three to National Letters of Intent

CHARLESTON, S.C. – A trio of top-ranked junior golfers have signed National Letters of Intent and will join the College of Charleston Men’s Golf program in 2013, head coach Mark McEntire announced Monday. William Rainey, Ryan Carpenter and Matthew Mahle will begin their collegiate careers next fall.   “I am very happy and excited with our 2013 recruiting class,” McEntire said. “This continues the trend and gives our program another excellent class.” Rainey, a native of Charlotte, N.C., has been ranked as high as 16th in the country in the class of 2013 and started the fall as the No. 1 ranked player in North Carolina. Houston Dynamo returns to Carolina Challenge Cup

MLS Cup finalists to play in February tournament   Charleston, SC – Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo have committed to play in the 2013 Carolina Challenge Cup to be held at Blackbaud Stadium, Charleston, SC, February 16 – 23, 2013.  Houston will join Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire, Vancouver Whitecaps and USL PRO’s Charleston Battery for the round-robin tournament.   Houston have played in the Carolina Challenge Cup twice before in 2006 and 2007, winning the tournament on both occasions.   The Houston Dynamo will take on the L.A. Galaxy in MLS Cup 2012 on Dec 1 after winning MLS’s Eastern Conference Championship and knocking D.C. Cougars Win Five-Set Thriller Over Furman, Capture SoCon Title

DAVIDSON, N.C. – College of Charleston won an exciting five-set thriller over rival Furman to capture the 2012 Southern Conference Tournament and the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The championship is the seventh tournament title for CofC and the 12th-straight regular season or tournament championship dating back to 2001. Seven tournament championships is more than any other SoCon program. With the win, College of Charleston improves to 26-7 on the season while Furman fell to 24-10. The razor tight match feature 20 ties and seven lead changes as the championship point came down to a 15-13 margin in the fifth set. Nov. 19, 2012 – Registration remains open for the 2012 East Carolina Thanksgiving Softball Camp, head softball coach Beth Keylon-Randolph announced on Monday afternoon. The ECU softball staff will host the one-day camp on Sunday, Nov. 25, at ECU Softball Stadium. The camp is for all girls that are in eighth grade and above. The camp is split into two sessions. The first session of the one-day camp is the hitting and defensive portion and is scheduled to go from 9 a.m. to noon at a cost of $75.
