David Irving Steps Down as Head Coach of Wilmington Hammerheads FC

WILMINGTON, NC August 21, 2014 – Wilmington Hammerheads FC announced today that, by mutual agreement, David Irving is leaving his role as head coach and will no longer be involved in the day to day operation with the team. “David has been an integral figure in the soccer community in Wilmington for many years and had many successes,” said Wilmington Hammerheads FC General Manager Jason Arnold. “He has contributed so much to the Hammerheads and the city of Wilmington, and for that we are very grateful. Caitlin Hite Garners Preseason All-American Conference Nod

East Carolina picked to finish eighth GREENVILLE, NC August 18, 2014 – East Carolina University sophomore women’s soccer player Caitlin Hite was one of 11 players named to The American’s preseason all-conference team, according to an announcement by the league office Monday afternoon. As a freshman in 2013, Hite became the first player in program history to earn All-Conference USA First Team honors and also received NSCAA All-Central Region Second Team recognition. The Stafford, Va., native started all 21 matches and played every minute in 19 of those contests, which included five double-overtime games. Kickoff set for Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Stone Stadium COLUMBIA, SC August 18, 2014 – South Carolina continues its preparation for the 2014 regular season with a 7 p.m. exhibition against Elon at Stone Stadium on Tuesday. Admission is free for all fans to the final home scrimmage before the season opener. The Gamecocks played a wide variety of personnel and formations in its first outing against USC Upstate, a 2-1 setback. After a rest day on Sunday, the team had its next-to-last double-practice day on Monday to clarify roles and prepare for the Phoenix. Kailen Sheridan Selected to Preseason All-ACC Team

CLEMSON, SC August 18, 2014 – Sophomore goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan was named to the Preseason All-ACC Women’s Soccer Team as announced by the conference office on Monday. The 11-member preseason all-conference team was selected by a vote of the league’s head coaches. Sheridan, a native of Whitby, Ontario, was a member of the All-ACC Third Team and the ACC All-Freshman Team in 2013. She started all 19 games in goal for the Tigers during her rookie season, posting 66 saves and allowing just 18 goals. CLEMSON, SC August 16, 2014 – The Clemson men’s soccer team kicked off its exhibition season with a 2-0 win over UAB at Historic Riggs Field Saturday night. The teams played three 30 minute periods and ended the game with a round of penalty kicks. Junior TJ Casner got the scoring started off for the Tigers in the 21st minute.
