Charleston Battery host Richmond Kickers in Tuesday rematch

Charleston Battery host Richmond Kickers in Tuesday rematch

CHARLESTON, SC July 20, 2014 – If the Charleston Battery are itching to atone for their 4-0 drubbing Saturday at Richmond, at least they won’t have long to wait. The Battery hosts the Kickers Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Blackbaud Stadium in a game rescheduled from June 27 by dangerous weather. Lightning flashed near the stadium during warm-ups that night, forcing players off the field and fans to take shelter under the stands. The game got underway after a 45-minute delay, but a new outbreak of lightning in the 18th minute forced a second delay, and ultimately the postponement of the match. Contrary to initial reports that indicated the postponed match would be resumed in the 18th minute, the league and both […]

Jose Cuevas returns to Charleston Battery

CHARLESTON, SC July 15, 2014 – Jose “Chiva” Cuevas — the PDL prospect from California who earned league Rookie of the Year honors and was named MVP of the USL PRO Championship Game in 2012 — has returned to Charleston for the remainder of the 2014 season, pending US Soccer approval. “Getting Jose back gives us a good option,” said Battery Coach Mike Anhaeuser. “He’s scored goals for us. He can put the ball in the back of the net. “But the other thing that people don’t see is that he can get the assist. He gets good balls in from free kicks and the run of play. And that’s something we’ve maybe been missing throughout the beginning of the […]
