Charleston, SC April 17, 2013 –  The Charleston Battery has received midfielder Ben Fisk and defender/midfielder Emmanuel Adjetey from the Vancouver Whitecaps Premier Development League (PDL) squad on season-long loans for 2013. Adjetey is pending USSF approval. “Ben has been one of the top young players we have had come through our Residency program and Emmanuel is a raw talent who we are interested in seeing further development,” said Martin Rennie, Whitecaps FC head coach. “Playing minutes is vital for both of these young players. Richmond, VA April 13, 2013 – The Charleston Battery lost by a score of four goals to one to the Richmond Kickers in the opening game of the USL PRO season on Saturday night at City Stadium. The Battery conceded twice in each half and could only reply with one goal of their own as they suffered their heaviest defeat at the hands of Richmond since 1996. Charleston, SC April 12, 2013 – The Charleston Battery has agreed to terms with midfielder Michael Azira and defender Quinton Griffith for the upcoming USL PRO season. Azira returns to the Battery for a second season after scoring the winning goal in the 2012 USL PRO Championship match. Griffith is a current member of the Antigua and Barbuda national team and joins the Battery after playing the past two seasons for fellow USL PRO side Antigua Barracuda FC.
