Surf City to Host Basketball, Indoor Soccer and Volleyball This Winter

SURF CITY, NC – Prime time is here for indoor sports as Surf City Parks & Recreation is expanding its adult sports offerings. Adult Basketball is returning after a several year absence while Adult Volleyball and Indoor Soccer will be new activities. All adult sports are open to participants 16 years and older and all games will be played in the Community Center Gymnasium.   The open basketball league will play Thursday nights in January and February with games to begin at 6 pm. Players may register individually or entire teams may enter the league. The cost is $400 for a team or $50 per individual. Practice time will be made available on Thursdays in December. MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The College of Charleston men’s soccer team fell, 2-1, to Appalachian State and was eliminated from the Southern Conference Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Patriots Point. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The College of Charleston women’s soccer team fell 2-1 to Furman in the semifinals of the Southern Conference Tournament on the campus of Samford on Friday night. The Cougars battled from behind to equalize in a second half which they dictated, but a late Furman goal on a counter attack decided the result. The Cougars (7-12-1) fell behind early but came out energized in the second half and equalized the match on a goal by McCallie Jones (Charlotte, N.C.).
