Battery defeats Coastal Carolina University in pre-season scrimmage

Myrtle Beach, SC March 26, 2013 – The Charleston Battery defeated Coastal Carolina University by a score of two goals to nil on Tuesday evening in a pre-season scrimmage. Jose Cuevas and Taylor Mueller supplied the goals as the Battery played its final road pre-season match. After a scoreless first half Charleston finally broke the deadlock midway through the second period. Midfielder Nicki Paterson picked out Jose Cuevas with an accurate pass from a free-kick. Cuevas controlled the ball and then finished neatly past the Coastal goalkeeper to tally his seventh pre-season goal. Charleston Battery transfers Ryan Richter to Toronto FC

Charleston, SC March 25, 2013 – The Charleston Battery has transferred Ryan Richter to Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC.  Per team and MLS policy terms of the deal were not disclosed. Richter played 29 games for the Battery in 2012 and was a member of the USL PRO Championship winning team. Ryan Richter logged 1,792 minutes with the Battery in 2012 and finished the season with two goals and four assists.  Richter started all three of the Battery’s post-season games including the Championship match. Charleston Battery defeats Wilmington Hammerheads in pre-season exhibition

Charleston, SC March 23, 2013 – The Charleston Battery defeated the Wilmington Hammerheads by a score of two goals to nil in a pre-season scrimmage on Saturday evening at Blackbaud Stadium.  Midfielder Ben Fisk and forward Jose Cuevas supplied the goals in a match that featured the two teams from the 2012 USL PRO Championship game. 8,054 fans surpass RailHawks attendance record CARY, NC March 20, 2013 – The Carolina RailHawks hosted Pumas UNAM Wednesday night in front of a club record 8,054 fans at the New WakeMed Soccer Park. A 2-1 result favored the visiting club and left every fan wanting more of the exciting end-to-end match.
