Box Score DANIEL ISLAND, SC August 22, 2014 – The College of Charleston women’s soccer team opened its 2014 season in dominant fashion with a comprehensive, 4-0 handling of Alabama State at Blackbaud Stadium on Friday afternoon. The Cougars (1-0) controlled virtually every facet of the game and enjoyed long spells of possession en route to the convincing victory. As part of the project, known as Know2, some of the nation’s experts in mindset growth projects and creating an environment of college success will be in Charleston on July 30-31, 2014 for the Know2 Conference. Higher Education Foundation, is designed to ensure all citizens know two things: being educated is essential for economic success and an improved quality of life; and being educated is possible for me, my family, and my community. College Alumni Return to Teach Summer Course in Public Health   CHARLESTON, NC July 14, 2014 – The College of Charleston welcomed back two alumni on July 10, 2014 to teach a Summer II course titled Global Perspectives on Poverty, Inequality and Vulnerability. Honors College alumni Melissa Siegel ’03 and Stephanie Wheeler ’03 are co-teaching the class. Siegel, a former economics major, is an associate professor in the Netherlands at Maastricht University’s Graduate School of Governance and a senior researcher and the United Nations University where she heads the Migration Studies research group.  Wheeler, a former double major in biology and theatre, is an assistant professor of health policy and management at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Gillings School of Global Public Health.
