CHARLESTON, SC March 6, 2013 – Senior men’s sailor Ben Spector (Santa Clarita, Calif.) and freshman women’s golfer Julia Neumann (Berlin, Germany) earned College of Charleston Student-Athlete of the Week honors sponsored by Piggly Wiggly for the week of March 4. Spector led the Cougars to a win in the Graham Hall Team Race, compiling a 20-2 record in the regatta in Annapolis, Md. The Cougars entered the weekend ranked third in the nation in the first ICSA Team Race Rankings and suffered only two losses, to second-place St. Mary’s College of Maryland. CofC Cougars Kick Off Spring Season at SAISA Open

CHARLESTON, SC Feb. 9, 2013 – The third-ranked College of Charleston coed sailing team kicks off the spring season this weekend at the SAISA Open hosted by Eckerd College on Feb. 9-10 in St. Petersburg, Fla. The Cougars are among 20 schools competing at the in-conference regatta next to host Eckerd, Florida, South Florida, Clemson, Miami (Fla.), Embry-Riddle, UNC Wilmington, Florida Tech, The Citadel, North Carolina, Rollins College, Auburn, NC State, Jacksonville, New College, Duke, Georgia, Florida State and Florida Atlantic. CHARLESTON, SC Jan. 25, 2013 – Three former student-athletes and one former administrator have been selected for membership into the CofC Athletics Hall of Fame. The 2013 Induction Class includes former men’s basketball star and NBA veteran Anthony Johnson (1994-97), former Director of Athletics Jerry Baker (1991-07), former sailing All-American Kara Shadwick-Museler (1992-95) and former men’s soccer All-American defender Luiz Vieira (1987-90). The four will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at a special reception and brunch held on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 9:30 a.m. (ET) in the McAlister Hospitality Suite located on the third floor of TD Arena. CHARLESTON, SC – Freshman sailor Jake Reynolds (San Diego, Calif.) and junior women’s basketball player Jillian Brown (Midlothian, Va.) earned College of Charleston Student-Athlete of the Week honors sponsored by Piggly Wiggly for the week of Jan. 7. Reynolds led the No. 3-ranked College of Charleston coed sailing team to a tie for its high-finish in the last five years at the Rose Bowl Regatta, held over the weekend at the Alamitos Bay Yacht Club near Belmont Veterans Memorial Pier in the Long Beach outer harbor. CHARLESTON, S.C. – Redshirt junior men’s basketball player Willis Hall (Charlotte, N.C.) and redshirt junior volleyball player Darcy Dorton (Muncie, Ind.) earned College of Charleston Student-Athlete of the Week honors sponsored by Piggly Wiggly for the week of Dec. 3. Hall led College of Charleston to a 2-0 week with wins at Charleston Southern and Elon. He registered his third career double-double with a game- and season-high 19 points and 12 rebounds at Elon in the team’s lea¬gue opener on Dec. 1. It also marked his fifth career double-figure rebounding game. He averaged a team-leading 15.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in the two road wins. CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston Board of Trustees voted unanimously today to accept an invitation to become a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). “We are very excited about joining the Colonial Athletic Association,” President P. George Benson said. “It is a great fit for the College, both athletically and academically. Schedule CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston head coach Amy Seago has announced the schedule for the 2013 track and field season. The Cougars will open the indoor season on Jan. 11 when they travel to Clemson, S.C. for the Tiger Invitational.
