Gamecocks outshoot Marshall but can’t find net in setback COLUMBIA, SC Sept. 27, 2014 – South Carolina (4-4, 0-1 C-USA) dominated possession and offensive opportunities on Friday night at Stone Stadium, but Marshall (2-3-2, 1-0-0 C-USA) came away with a 1-0 win in the 93rd minute with Daniel Jodah scoring the golden goal. Jodah put pressure on the Gamecock defense early in the overtime period, and the head attempt back to the keeper got away from everyone, allowing Jodah to shoot the ball into the net past a lunging defender trying to make the last-gasp save. The No. 13/15 Gamecocks (3-1, 2-1 SEC) will host the Missouri Tigers (3-1, 0-0 SEC) in an SEC Eastern Division battle for the Mayor’s Cup on Saturday, September 27. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at a sold out Williams-Brice Stadium. ESPN will broadcast the game nationally with Brad Nessler and Todd Blackledge in the booth and Holly Rowe on the sidelines. The Gamecocks (1-1) dropped three spots in the Associated Press poll to No. 24, while they fell two slots to No. 23 in the Amway Coaches’ poll. South Carolina was ranked 21st in both polls last week prior to a 33-23 win over East Carolina on Saturday night. Linebackers coach Kirk Botkin said that the competition between T.J.
