Gamecocks outshoot Marshall but can’t find net in setback COLUMBIA, SC Sept. 27, 2014 – South Carolina (4-4, 0-1 C-USA) dominated possession and offensive opportunities on Friday night at Stone Stadium, but Marshall (2-3-2, 1-0-0 C-USA) came away with a 1-0 win in the 93rd minute with Daniel Jodah scoring the golden goal. Jodah put pressure on the Gamecock defense early in the overtime period, and the head attempt back to the keeper got away from everyone, allowing Jodah to shoot the ball into the net past a lunging defender trying to make the last-gasp save. The Gamecocks (1-1) dropped three spots in the Associated Press poll to No. 24, while they fell two slots to No. 23 in the Amway Coaches’ poll.
