Wilmington, NC March 18, 2013 – New Hanover County Public Library is proud to announce receiving a grant for $32,000 to collect and digitize images of Cape Fearians. This grant is funded by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) as administered by the State Library of North Carolina, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources. Local matching funds were provided by the Library Foundation of New Hanover County (http://www.libraryfoundationnhcpl.org/). The focus of the Cape Fearians project is on preserving images of residents of the Lower Cape Fear region throughout its history and on making these images readily available online for researchers. New Hanover County, NC – New Hanover County’s trend in residential construction continues to strengthen this fiscal year with more than $90 million construction dollars spent. According to the latest construction activity report, issued by the New Hanover County Development Services Center, the largest project permitted in December was an $7.6 million multi-family apartment complex on Cedar Lane in Wilmington. The second largest project was a private aircraft hanger at 1859 Dolan Drive, at a cost of $1 million.
